Jane Birkin has reportedly died at the age of 76. The English singer, actor, and Francophile was canonized for her spitfire Sixties style. An enduring and undisputed fashion icon, Birkin’s androgynous aesthetic first charmed from Chelsea to Cannes. “My most interesting period was when I was 40,” she told Vogue France in 2018. Her namesake Hermès bag—which came to be from a chance encounter in high-flying circles—was released in 1984.
