As many folks are aware, there was a lot of heavy snowfall in the Sierra this winter! Snow while thru hiking generally means slower miles and more tiring days, along with dangerous river crossings since rivers are more swollen. It also means that typical resupply spots aren't opening until later in the season, resulting in many more days before you can restock food. For these reasons, I decided to skip up to Truckee (I’ve still experienced snow for sure!) to hike Nor Cal before the Sierra.
