@hypeart: For @bijanberahimi and many other members of the Iranian diaspora who grew up in the USA, cultural identity was something one could only revel in private. Like most Americans, the founder of design studio @fiskprojects grew up with fast food, cartoons, video games, and basketball. However, unlike his friends, Berahimi felt a general sense of confusion in his formative years, where something as simple as the frequent mispronunciation of his Iranian name gave him anxiety.⁠

Now, fast-forward years later, Berahimi has made quite an impact on the world of graphic design, from branding for @NIKE to album covers for @アリシア・キーズ. While the design world can often feel lifeless and rigid, the artist’s aesthetic offers a refreshing spin. Berahimi recently spoke with us in ‘Hypebeast Magazine’ Issue 31 about reconnecting with his Iranian cultural heritage to spread more awareness and dismantle the misconceptions about his mother country.⁠
