10 years ago when I visited Japan, lunch set was 1000 yen. Fast forward to 2023, the lunch set is still 1000. What changes is how Jakarta economy has grown, middle class is rising, and inflation is 50% in the last 10 years

10 years ago in Jakarta, it’s easy to find 60-80k IDR for a meal (which was 500-600 yen). And now I need 100-200k IDR. (Which is 900-1800 yen)

Prices have been rising all over the world, but in a way Jakarta’s prices have caught up with Tokyo’s in my opinion. I was spending my time mostly in Tokyo for the last 4 months and when I came back to Jakarta again, I realized how Jakarta is so pricey these days. Is it only me who thinks like that? Do you feel the same?
