Jillian Nixon’s Po Po and Gung Gung are inseparable. After moving to America over a half-century ago, her grandparents Elayne Lim and Yot Lim are still interested in each other’s hobbies and bringing joy to their grandchildren. This is not to say they didn’t have their challenges.

Nixon’s grandfather contracted tuberculosis in high school and was in and out of the hospital for six years. After recovering, he learned how to cook and how to run a business from his father.

Today, you can find him cooking in the kitchen while Po Po sits in bed with hair curls and olive oil in her hair, watching a Chinese soap opera.
