Because somehow they make it real and I don’t want to believe that my wonderful friend David Tibolla has left this planet. When I think of David the first word that pops into my mind is gentleman. And he was in every sense of the word. He was also an incredible makeup artist, cook, poet and lover of all things fashion, beauty music, and fragrance. He was my first real friend in NYC. We met the night I arrived in 1995 and from that day forward we supported each other through thick and thin. Through all the ups and downs of freelance life and the foibles of life in general of which there have been many. That first year David would walk me home each night from the N train to my apartment in Queens. He would stand outside the door until he knew I was inside safe. He never gossiped but preferred to talk about films, musicians, painters in our last conversation he read me a poem he had written at 16 and in his last text he talked about sitting on my front porch watching the hummingbirds and butterflies in my garden. He was hilarious, sensitive and beyond gifted but struggled with with feeling worthy of love and deserving of the support he gave to everyone else, and especially of the kind of partnership he always dreamed of having. When I got married there were no other hands I would have wanted to do my make up, and I have never again felt more beautiful. My heart is broken as I sift though the memories of our beautiful decades long friendship and I am both grateful for the time we had and devastated that I can’t call him right now and tell him about a book I just read or a song just heard or hear him say RBG! OMG We NEED to see this concert or that art exhibition! Don’t forget to check on your friends right now. It’s a really hard time in the world and we need each other more than ever. Life is fucking hard and sometimes even harder for those of us attuned to recognizing beauty. We are fragile beings and crumble easily. I will miss you forever my my sweet David. May the other side be a filled with Cherries Jubilee, rosemary roasted potatoes, sexy Goth boys and French 75s. You were and will always be so loved.」5月20日 7時31分 - rachelgoodwinmakeup
