Wildlife trafficking is one of the biggest threats to endangered birds like Jolie. The exotic-pet trade continues to grow, and the effects are devastating. The @lazoo is saving wildlife like Jolie by combating the wildlife trade. In 2017 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service contacted the Los Angeles Zoo, asking for assistance in caring for songbirds that had been confiscated at Los Angeles International Airport after being smuggled in suitcases from Vietnam to LA. Sadly, many birds did not live through the ordeal, but Jolie was among the survivors. Today she is an ambassador for her species. Her story helps bring awareness to and put a face on illegal wildlife trafficking. Jolie is a vibrant addition to her habitat and the zoo community, and her keepers will continue to provide the best animal welfare possible to ensure she continues to thrive.
