Kirikane (截金) is a distinguished Japanese decorative technique employed in the adornment of Buddhist statues and paintings. This method utilizes gold leaf, silver leaf, or platinum leaf meticulously cut into delicate lines, diamonds, and triangles. To begin, four sheets of leaf (gold, silver, or platinum) are heated over an ash-banked fire and bonded together. The leaf is then subjected to an additional bonding process to enhance its strength and thickness. Subsequently, the bonded leaf is precisely cut using a bamboo knife on a deer-skin-covered table, before being affixed to the object with the aid of glue (seaweed glue, funori, and hide glue, nikawa, etc.).

I had the esteemed privilege of collaborating with the Matsushita Sohrin Buddhist Studio in Kyoto, Japan, and Kirikane Master Maya Matsuhisa on this sculpture. Master Matsuhisa perpetuates the revered tradition of the Kei-Ha (慶派) school, inheriting a thousand-year-old legacy. The creation of this sculpture demanded nearly three years of diligent effort.

現在 @alminerech ギャラリーにて会期中個展の展示彫刻作品の一部に截金という伝統技法を用いた。

截金（きりかね）とは、細金（ほそがね）とも呼ばれ金箔•プラチナ箔を数枚焼き合わせ細く直線状に切ったものを、筆と接着剤を用いて貼ることによって文様を表現する伝統技法である。日本においては飛鳥時代より特に仏像・仏画の衣や装身具を荘厳するために発達してきた。慶派の流れを汲み1000年近く続く技法を京都で守ってきた松久宗琳佛所の截金師松久真や氏とつくりあげた作品。制作から3年かかり完成。（最初はなかなか相手にしてもらえず京都に通い詰めた記憶が鮮明ですが）小生の作品の方向性を理解いただき、一つ一つの紋様を竹包丁で三角形・菱形・丸型などの形に切箔し、本作品は仏像ではないが、荘厳されるかのごとく気の長くなるような作業を徹していただき完成した。松久氏にこの場を借りて御礼申し上げます。
