The bespoke #ERDEM Eau de Nil sequinned gown, designed by @erdemlondon for #GlennClose's appearance at this year's #MetGala, was created in homage to the late designer #KarlLagerfeld who is the subject of this year's exhibition theme: A Line Of Beauty.

Crystal hand embroidery: inspired by haphazardly draped jewellery in Karl Lagerfeld's first Chanel Couture show, Spring Summer 1983.

Cape: inspired by Devon Aoki's look in Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel Couture show, Fall Winter 1999.

Collar and cuffs: ode to Karl Lagerfeld's signature look.
