I was born in Mississippi.. and I was an 80s baby raised in South Florida my whole childhood. it’s a place where tackling was fair game everywhere but concrete, where we learned in our text books to run away from alligators in a zigzag fashion. we crossed over water pipes in our backyard canals to save time getting to school. we stole beer from our neighbors by sneaking into their screen porches when they weren’t home. we learned to catch mullet and use live shrimp for bait when we went to alligator alley to fish off the highway bridge with my dad. we used to feed manatees from our freshwater hose behind my grandmas house. I never knew I was from a fantasy world til I came back to see my dad and make these short pieces to release the album. the album is for all the kids I grew up with that watched rap city & the country countdown on tv after middle school. and taped our favorite songs off the radio and listened to them in a make shift tree house in the woods. I guess it’s a trip down to the everglades to show you where i’m from. Swamp Savant, April 28.
