On February 12th, I played Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1 with the Pacific Philharmonia Tokyo and Maestro Norichika Iimori in the gorgeous Orchard Hall, Tokyo. It was a concert for Children and their parents, and I was so happy to see many children in the audience!
I selected Tchaivkosky to perform because that was the concerto I heard in my very first symphony concert when I was around 6 y.o. After the concert, my parents asked me how I liked it, and I answered "I wanna play there, too!" and pointed at the grand piano in the center of the stage and asked my parents to buy me the score...! So I got the dream of becoming a pianist (who plays with orchestra) with this concerto. I hope we could inspire some young audience through this concert.
2月12日は文化村オーチャードホールで、「子どもの感性を育てるクラシック名曲コンサート」に出演しました。チャイコフスキーのピアノ協奏曲第１番を自分でセレクトしたのですが、これは私が６歳の時、両親に連れられて初めて聴いたクラシックオーケストラのコンサートで聴き、「オーケストラと共演するピアニスト」に憧れと夢を抱いたものでした。ステージ中央に置かれたピアノを指さして「僕もあそこで弾きたい！」と両親に言って、後日スコアを買ってもらったのですが、最初の和音から手が届かず、七夕の短冊に「早くオクターヴが届きますように」と書いたのを覚えています(笑)。その頃のことも思い出しながら演奏しましたが、このコンサートでクラシック音楽が好きな子供が増えてくれたら嬉しいです。
共演者のPPTの皆様、飯森範親さん、素敵なMCの杏さん（指揮者体験コーナーでは神対応！）、興味深くて面白いお話を聞かせてくださった茂木健一郎さん、そしてこの演奏会の企画・構成を担当された新井鷗子さんはじめスタッフの皆様に感謝申し上げます。
