フィラデルフィア美術館のインスタグラム(philamuseum) - 4月16日 03時17分
Today we celebrate Philadelphia-based artist Charles Willson Peale, who was born #onthisday in 1741.
This portrait depicts the artist's two sons and their roles in Peale's Museum, the first American museum created to educate and entertain the public. The realistic life-size painting startled and delighted visitors, reputedly eliciting a hat tip from George Washington.
