While I’ve not felt connected to posting here in a while — beyond sharing news and the occasional puppy update in my stories with you all — this moment, and some recent ones that I’ll get up here soon, do deserve to be remembered and celebrated. To be in a room led @laphonzabutler, to hear from the incredible, @andreaforag, and our own Mayor @KarenBassLA was deeply inspiring. Mayor Bass spoke about the actions she began taking on day ONE of assuming office to combat our housing crisis and get folks on the streets of LA housed. Day one! She leapt right in. And it was because she’d been in the work for so long, that she could. Laphonza detailed the progress Emily’s List had helped women across the country achieve, in getting elected to office and making sure we are represented where policy is made. And the AG spoke in depth about policy and community care from within the law. And policy is something I got to speak about with my fellow amazing panelists. Because policy is personal. Anyone who says “I don’t do politics?” Well. It’s DOING all of us, friends. So being informed and understanding the human impact of our systems — for good or harm — matters. It’s the privilege of my life to be a storyteller who can help personalize the data and jargon of policy and tell the human and family stories at the core of bills being voted on and the center of elections. No matter the size of your platform, know you have one. Use it for good. Use it for your family and also your neighbors’ families. We have plenty of work to do, friends! Being on teams like this one? Makes the work a passion and a joy. We’ve got this. #EmilysList」3月11日 8時59分 - sophiabush
