Video by #CanonExplorerOfLight @Keith Ladzinski: "With mouths that can expand upwards of 4 feet, filming details of a hippo's mouth was both fun, and a little weird. While working in Zambia last October we had many great hippo encounters. They’re generally docile from a distance, casually wading around, sleeping and grazing at their leisure, but hippos are notoriously dangerous animals. I knew that if I wanted a low angle I needed to do two things: Use a long lens, and have a great exit strategy because hippos can actually hit speeds of nearly 20mph on land. For these shots I worked along the edge of a river bank with a high-hat (a low tripod) and used the EOS R3 with the RF600mm F4 L IS USM lens. For the closer details I simply put the 2x converter on, which is shockingly sharp, and also gave me 1200mm. This allowed me to be lighter and more nimble than having multiple cameras, which was key in case things went a little sideways!"
