The two songs I played at the Gestuz show are actually two of my personal favourites from my new album. In both of these songs we’ve explored a much more synth and sample based production style than in my previous work. “Poison fizzing on a tongue” draws inspiration from bands such as Radiohead, Portishead, and Massive Attack with its quietly unfolding desperation and glitchy percussive elements. “Hurting me for fun” has an arrangement built around a stumbling Roland 909 drum machine and lofi guitar details. It’s an exploration of strength within vulnerability and slowly builds towards a euphoric techno climax. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What decade inspires you in your work? On my recently released debut full length there’s definitely a strong 90’s influence throughout. That’s the decade the majority of my all time favourite records were made. I like to draw from a wide range of inspirations and mix and match to fit my vision.
