On the evening of January 18, we lost a beautiful soul. Maya Amoils was a force. If you knew her, you knew she was incredibly intelligent, extremely kind and a deep listener. I wish I had known her even better than I did. But I do know these traits to be true. I had the pleasure of knowing this woman for a little over 5 years. She originally became a friend just through the sheer fact that we share a best friend in Raymond Braun. She then became a friend because she was just a dynamite person with a deep wisdom. If you listen to her interview on the podcast, “All the Wiser”, your jaw will drop when you hear her speak. She’s so calm and collected and poised and real. At the point of her doing this interview, she had already been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and is a complete open book about it for an hour straight. I listened to it when it first came out but hearing it again last night, knowing she’s gone, really hit me. Her laugh, her cadence, her overall good heart, completely shines through.

I love you Maya. I wish I had known you longer, I wish I had known you better. We will never forget you.

Maya has asked us to start a fund called “Maya’s Way” to help young cancer patients navigate the journey as she has.

“Maya’s Way” is Maya’s way of giving back to young people like her who are suffering from cancer. All donations will be utilized to help women under age 40 who are suffering with cancer to receive integrative medicine therapies. The aim is to allow each patient to live with optimal Wellbeing, despite their illness.
