Instead, give them choices; You can be scared and I still have your back or I’ll help you to be more confident, but on your terms.
In this situation, it wasn’t about getting BB to be OK with the specific tree stump. It could be anything—a rock, a balloon, a horse—but the more positive and successful exposure she has to new things and unusual things, she will be a much more confident dog in general. Her trust in me continues to grow as she knows I will never force her.
