On Matriarchal Power and the world of Prabal Gurung.

She is a curious, glamorous, global nomad with a clear understanding of the space she occupies and her relationship with the world.
She is one with a clear sense of purpose, intention and integrity who is unapologetically feminine and unabashedly glamourous.
She is the epitome of style and substance, femininity with a bite—someone with depth and levity.

She understands that her existence in her full feminine glory; however, she defines that feminity and the glory are up to her, but that feminine glory is unnerving and the most significant resistance to patriarchy.
In that essence, she is an epitome and celebration of matriarchy. It's because I 100% believe that the world is much better with the matriarchal energy in front and centre. Matriarchal power is the need of the hour and also a siren call.

Look at the state of the world at the hands of patriarchy: the chaos, climate crisis, economic crisis, human crisis, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, racism, police brutality, etc. That is what they have left for us. Ruthless power, wealth and success at any cost were what the culture and the world celebrated and still celebrates. Any thoughts questioning those actions and ambitions were deemed weak, sissy, emotional or simply: don't be a “girl".

Now cut to today where we are and what people are talking about sustainability, accountability, vulnerability, inclusivity, mindfulness and thoughtful consumption; these are the heart and thought led ideas. These ideas are and should be at the forefront of things we do moving forward. These ideas are " emotional", "sensitive", and “girlish”, and I say so be it. And as a dear friend of mine, Robin Givhan wrote, "Being Girlish is Powerful because power is redefined".

That’s why I firmly believe that matriarchal, feminine energy, femininity, feminine leaning ideas and people are what we need today.

These thoughts encompass a Prabal Gurung Woman, a Prabal Gurung Man, a Prabal Gurung Person and the Prabal Gurung world - an inclusive, colourful world where hope, optimism, depth and levity are the guiding lights.
