Curator Florence Müller shares insights into Christian Dior’s relationship with New York as she showcases designs featured in the #DiorDesignerofDreams exhibition at the @ブルックリン美術館 until February 20, 2022. Invited to the United States by Neiman Marcus to receive the department store’s prestigious fashion award mere months after his earth-shattering debut with the New Look, for the founding couturier his first impressions of New York were equally astonishing. Struck by its architecture, culture and energy, he would open a subsidiary of his couture house on Fifth Avenue the following year, with creations specially designed for the American market.
