「Acrylic Partition」2020

シンプルで綺麗で倒れないパーテーションを作った。

I think the new Coronavirus and the Tokyo Olympics have made clear the division between here and there.
But the dividing line has been there for a long time.
The divider that was made transparent and invisible is also the difference in values, prejudices, and assumptions between you and me. These partitions can protect us from ourselves, but they can also hurt someone else without us knowing it.

In Japan these days,
there is not a day that goes by that I don't see acrylic partitions.
But I wonder who the partition is for,
I simply love the material because I can play with the reflection and transparency of the different angles.

I think that a society without “partitions” is impossible.
If there is no difference in anything, there will be no joy.

This partition that I designed is a manifestation of values.

By using colored acrylic panels, I wanted to show the wistful but certain difference in the way people think.
This is why people need dialogue and imagination.

That's what I was thinking about when I designed this piece.
