I’ve had many experiences in the fashion industry that have left me questioning if progress will ever happen across the board. And I’m in a white, able body, at a US size 12/14 I have the privilege of being able to shop in most stores. When I do get to work with a brand I usually have to ask are you ready to be more inclusive? These pics were taken at a store opening, not only are the clothes cute but I was looking forward to having the discussion of inclusion because there’s a limited size range which I’ve seen @katiesturino flag before (❤️u) I believe supporting brands into improvement and growth rather than shaming and cancel culture because that feels to me the more positive route for change? But it doesn’t always work - let me know your thoughts!!! After taking time out my day to go and support the opening I was told I could pick out a cute fit. It soon transpired after searching the store my size was not available (again I know I’m very privileged as many have to assume their sizes won’t be carried and I get to assume mine is) long story short, I communicated that this was disappointing you’d chosen to invite me and I wanted to have a conversation with the team and even had my agency reach out so we could have a formal discussion of the importance of inclusion Unfortunately after months of chasing to see if this managed to get noticed or flagged the one response received was “they are discussing it internally” aka they hope I’d go away and drop it?! We all know staying silent doesn’t create change, I’m still learning how to hold brands accountable in a positive way so they want to do better, listen and learn I’m speaking to a couple of brands atm who have said they want to and will be increasing sizing so pls brands don’t ignore inclusion, do it because it’s the right thing to do AND ITS GOOD FOR BUSINESS! Me and 67% of women size 14 or over want to wear your clothes! Also I apologise if this felt at all “whiney” I don’t want to be insensitive to the many other issues going on rn❤️」7月31日 4時12分
