カーハートさんのインスタグラム写真 - (カーハートInstagram)「In recognition of Black History Month, we’re reminded of how lucky we were to get to know the late Sergeant Preston Jowers prior to his passing in October after 105 years of life. As a former Tuskegee Airman, he made history by being part of our country’s first black aviation unit - one of the most highly regarded and respected squadrons to fight in WWII. After the war, despite his service and experience keeping B-25 Bombers and P-40 planes from falling out of the sky, it was the color of his skin that kept him from ever working on another airplane. Still, not even discrimination and racial inequality could stop Sgt Jowers from making a life for himself and pursuing a better future for his family. In 2017, together with our friends @elliotstudio and @gengennygenevieve, we were fortunate to have been able to spend time with Preston for a piece on the 100th anniversary of the Carhartt Chore Coat and the lessons learned after a century of hard work. In memory of Sgt Preston Jowers, we’re sharing that work again now. At Carhartt, we continue to be inspired by people like Sgt. Preston Jowers. That’s why we’re committed to doing more for future black and minority workers, which, here in Detroit, represent 98% of youth.
