At over 2,000lbs and upwards of 20ft tall, giraffes can run at speeds of over 35mph. All this weight under such slender bodies is something that puts tremendous stress on the legs. When I’m motion, their unique bone structure and gate is what allows them to be graceful and nimble. Additionally, their front and rear leg joints move in opposing direction which gives them balance.
