NASA's Perseverance rover successfully completed its nearly 300 million-mile journey from Earth to Mars. The animation above shows what it looked as it touched down on the surface. This mission is full of firsts. It's the first mission to search for signs of ancient life on another planet. It's the first helicopter to fly on another planet. And, it will capture the first recordings of sound on Mars.
