As some of you know I just bought a home on a big property in a very rural town in East Texas between Dallas and Texarkana. It felt really good after all these years to purchase a home and be able to pay it out with no mortgage or banks. Why Texas? I’m originally born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX and I wanted to buy and own a home somewhere familiar. I arrived 2 days ago just in time for the snow storm. We have electricity but our septic system was in the process of installation. We are using the old one which is broken so the water situation is iffy till this clears up. Our pipes froze yesterday with temperatures in the negative. We have about 8-10 inches of snow here. We live in the middle of 80acres so no one is coming to plow us out lol. As I read the news and see photos of the situation others are experiencing I’m grateful to have food and warmth right now. I honestly don’t understand how Texas was not set up for this. Every 10 years they get a major freeze with snow. Families are suffering and freezing and I feel like the military should be deployed here to help the people of Texas. FEMA should be set up to give people food and blankets. I’m reading how animals left outside are dying. If you have pets please bring them inside. If you are in warmer weather please read the news and follow along with what’s going on. If you have loved ones being impacted with the storms and tornadoes please reach out to them and make sure they are safe. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me to make sure we were okay. We still have a few days but by the weekend it should warm up. I’m hoping electricity will stay on till then. If you placed an order with a small business owner who may be affected by the weather please refrain from rude emails regarding shipping. Some of us are trying to just survive right now. My suppliers can’t even get me materials I need to make my products because 18 wheelers can’t travel on highways at the moment.
