I notice the same thing with my cat at home where if I pretend to hide or get real low, it triggers her hunting/hunted mode, so it’s quite amusing to see the same behavior with the bobcats. For most wildlife, getting lower seems to calm their nerves as we assume this means we look less threatening, but with cats it’s apparently the opposite (haven’t found the scientific journal on this, just my observations from the field). When I stand or sit down within the proximity of the bobcats, they barely look my way, but their curiosity is definitely peaked when I’m as low as can be. This particular cat got within about 20 feet where it could see me better through the grass, took a few sniffs, then continued to go about it’s business.」2月17日 3時50分
