Caught up in the trade war between Australia and China, these men have seemingly been cast to sea since last August with no one taking responsibility for their fate. Far from their homes in countries such as India and Russia they sit and wait in sub zero conditions - physically and mentally suffering, the most vulnerable are on suicide watch. Desperate to be back with their families it’s scurrilous that they are forced to suffer for no fault of their own. Since Anna’s articles in the @sydneymorningherald @theageaustralia @satpaper and intense media attention that followed, the crew of one ship with whom she had been in daily contact with are now on their way home.
