Man....I saw #MilfordGraves as a teen back in 1990. Kept saying the whole time “I didn’t know drums could do this”——I mean yeah mad cats colored outside the lines & boundaries but I never seen a drummer NOT be an anchor. But executed in such a masterful way. Not drumming freely to be a nuisance. It was like watching a spiritual exorcism onstage. At the reception he just said he drums what his mood dictates. No planning. Once I got into sound baths/journeys I realized THAT’S what I was watching onstage. Such an unsung hero. Rest In Peace in Beats in Spirit. Thank you!
