“Every year until I was 6, my family would go to a big function hall near Boston to celebrate the Lunar New Year with other families who had adopted children from China. Even though I may not have fully understood what the celebration was at the time, I look back on this memory with joy.⁣
⁣
As a Chinese-born adoptee who grew up in the USA, celebrating the Lunar New Year has certainly been a learning experience. Celebrating with friends, family, adoptees and other Asian Americans has helped me connect with Chinese customs in the most supportive way. I am excited to once again honor this holiday.”⁣
