Despite increasing evidence that schools are not the main drivers of the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite overwhelming evidence of the impact of school closures, many countries have opted to keep schools closed - some for nearly a year, continuing to disrupt the education of millions of children and young people worldwide. Without urgent action, the learning crisis will only deepen and the effects could be felt for generations to come.
