Photos by Pete McBride @pedromcbride / I spent a lot of time with the Navajo and their remarkable elders during my time making my @ナショナルジオグラフィック film, “Into the Canyon." It was an honor to meet so many of them. They are the keepers of language and stories and so much more.

Sadly, they are passing away at alarming rates due to a COVID-19 spike in the first half January, when the Navajo Nation identified 75 communities with an "uncontrolled spread" of the virus.
