@LONDON | TAG #THISISLONDONさんのインスタグラム写真 - (@LONDON | TAG #THISISLONDONInstagram)「@MrLondon on #ShadThames... definitely one of my favourite streets in London... in the late 1800’s these bridges connected the old riverside buildings to the storehouses and mills, so clippers (small cargo ships) could unload their cargo such as spices, dried fruit, teas, coffee etc - this area was quite literally known as the ‘larder of London’. Over time to city moved to containers which were unloaded further east, so by the 1970’s this whole area transitioned to residential and now feature expensive apartments, cafes, bars and restaurants. But it’s still a treat to walk under these bridges and soak the history up! And it’s right next to Tower Bridge.
