One of my major goals this year is to prioritize my mental health and to check myself when I start to burden my mind with negative self talk. After my dad passed away, I went to therapy on and off with different people but don’t believe I have dealt with all the grief and trauma. I haven’t even told you guys this before, but my aunt passed away suddenly 15 years ago and I don’t think I really ever faced that situation either. How it affected my mom, my family, the way I’d face so much. All of it. I know grief and self-doubt aren’t things that just go away so it’s time for me to really focus on healing and mostly healing my own self-doubt and fear of abandonment. As we all know, this is easier said than done and I’ve said this a million times, but we have to show up for ourselves before we can show up for others.

I'll be doing a series of episodes where I share updates on my #selfcare regimen on #WITHWHIT. I hope it becomes like a form of journaling for me. A safe place and space to say all the things I think but may be too afraid to admit them. In this first episode of the series, I share how I try to calm myself down, reframe my thinking during moments of heavy negativity, how important it is to literally schedule time for yourself, and more.

Most importantly, I want to mention that I have not mastered these tools yet. These are all things I am working on and striving to hold myself accountable for.
