Much like veganism it seems to carry a stigma that all women are angry and demand a better life; just as vegans are seen as self righteous for shaming people over lifestyle choices that exploit and consume animals. So being a heavily tattooed spiritual vegan feminist is quite possibly the most difficult lifestyle choice that I could have made and undoubtedly something that I face severe judgement for but I’m ok with that because it’s something I’m passionate about and where I belong. Feminism means different things to many different people - you could say it’s the refusal to be a doormat, to stand up and be heard and to live as free and respected as men. Whilst some women refuse to shave their bodily hair and protest for equal rights, others rock bikinis and flaunt body confidence, inner beauty and self worth. There is no right or wrong way to stand up for equality; the fact that we recognise the disparity is already half of the battle now we must bring about change. I’m a mother of two and domestic abuse survivor, I use my platform and voice to speak up for others who still sadly suffer in silence. I hope that sharing my strength and self worth may inspire others to bring equality to their lives, to believe in themselves and know there is far better out there than the hurt and suffering you face unfairly. Regardless of gender, age, culture, religion or whatever other means you can use to divide people, we ALL deserve to live safe, healthy and happy lives as the free and precious individuals that we are.
