Abstract painter Jack Whitten (1939–2018) remembered meeting #MartinLutherKing and #MalcolmX during the civil rights movement in the USA. The artist's painting 'Homage to Malcolm' pays tribute to the civil rights leader as a symbol of strength. For Whitten, the classic and strong symbol of the triangle combined with the dark, moody colours and textures of the painting capture the essence of Malcolm X.
