Then he would match whatever portion they chose. MAZZY and Harlow both decided to donate half their money but wanted some time to think about which charity. We talked about all the different causes they could support, from local shelters to pediatric cancer research to protecting the right to vote. Harlow quickly decided on helping endangered animals. He is supposed to be executed this year but wants a chance to prove his innocence. “That’s a great cause. Did you learn about him at school?” “No. Tiktok.” We looked him up and found the @innocenceproject which helps “exonerate the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent further injustice.” So that’s what Mazzy’s money went towards. Never in a million years when I started running down a list of easy to explain causes did I think that my 11yo would land on criminal justice reform. It amazes me how much more our kids know and understand about the world than we think. Now Mazzy is teaching me things. Thank you Poppy for giving us all that opportunity. And I guess I should be proud that MAZZY is following the right algorithm on Tiktok.
