Ok so let’s rewind to May when I realized this pandemic might last the entire summer. My @rocnation star @illyvdiez sends me her client’s new memoir. As a cat who has read a gazillion memoirs I’ll admit I was lukewarm to the idea of what I thought was gonna be a Fort Knox guarded story. I prefer oral histories so that way you get two perspectives on a story, which is why I insisted my late manager Rich being an intricate part of #MoMetaBlues. Cut to July when I realized we were grounded the whole year & now I’m reading whatever I can get my hands on (self help, dispenza meditation, cookbook, old mags) I was like “aight imma give this Mariah jawn a try but I don’t expect much...” dead wrong. 1 chapter turned into 8 ——& the next thing I know I’m downloading the audio version for road trips & mid listen I was like “damn....she is an engaging narrator”—-I had to start #TheMeaningOfMariahCarey all over again to hear #Mariah tell it w her inflections. I was low key jealous that I had written TWO food books but her description of @ritzcrackers damn near made me break my “no carb” summer rule. Everything was on point: her #StrongIsland accent, her set up/punch lines, the suspense & drama (see the #AlwaysBeMyBaby 🍟 French Fries adventure w @sosobrat)—-and her spot on imitation of pretty much anyone (I want to interview her as @arethafranklin next)—I didn’t know she was this ...funny?...human? Like I want a redo. Anywho—-I crept in her DMs & now we can’t get rid of each other so I thought it best we at #QuestloveSupreme firing squad her questions in front of witnesses & hopefully NOT freak her out (most of my peer friendships start this way—near stalking/ask ALOT of questions & if then MAYBE the friendship starts——-I’m world famous in circles for “being too journalistic & having no chill”—-welp I’m glad to say we pulled this @qls episode off well. @マライア・キャリー let us ask any & everything.
