I’m a daughter of working class immigrants and was taught by most authority figures to accept the unjust conditions that I was raised in and keep quiet. Through community organizing, I found my voice. I realized that not only could I change things for myself but also for people I grew up with, people with similar stories as mine. And it’s in joining with others that I found a way to transform this world. Mijente was created because Latinx and Chicanx people needed a political home to fight for justice.
