Canada’s favorite delicacies are as diverse as the people who love them! Take a look at what we like to munch on - how many have you tried? ⠀
⠀
💙 BeaverTails: also called “the Canadian doughnut,” the BeaverTail is a deep-fried pastry, pulled by hand to resemble the long, flat tail of a beaver. It's made with whole wheat flour, and once fried is topped with a variety of sweet garnishes such as cinnamon, sugar, jam or honey. ⠀
❤️ Ketchup chips: Invented back in the 1970’s, these delicious, tangy potato chips are a point of Canadian pride! ⠀
💚 Nanaimo bars: Named after the city in British Columbia where they were created, this three-layered, no-cook dessert bar dates back to 1952, when the first known recipe was printed in the Women’s Auxiliary of the Nanaimo Hospital Cookbook. ⠀
💛 Butter tarts: Commonly found in 19th century pioneer cooking and originating in Ontario, this staple treat consists of a mouth-watering filling of butter, sugar, syrup and egg, which is then baked in a pastry shell until the filling is semi-solid with a crunchy top. ⠀
