When designer @ddidesigns was commissioned to transform Avengers director Joe Russo’s modern California home, she crafted the space as a hub for entertaining both adults and children, with a floor plan that flowed like the conversations within it. In the living room, nearly all furniture was custom, boasting rich texture and a layered sensibility. “They wanted to make sure every portion of the house was usable, but also very stylish,” Doherty says. Russo’s style leaned toward traditional; his wife preferred modern, so it was up to Doherty to strike a balance of opposing aesthetics that, in the end, felt harmonious.
