‘Paysage Amoncelé’ by Jean Dubuffet is a unique work that takes its inspiration from the drawings that the artist absently doodled on sheets of paper in the summer of 1962 as he was chatting on the telephone. The ‘Hourloupe’ design, borne out of the seeming uncontrolled impulses of his hand, would preoccupy Dubuffet for more than a decade, initially with variations of the design on the flat surfaces of canvases, and subsequently with sculptures that reflected its irregular shapes and network of cells, in the stripped back biro colours of red, black and blue.

Created on the 9th February 1968, this work has been exhibited in Paris, Avignon and Washington, and is currently available for private sale. Click the link in bio for more information.
