Led by head chef Liselly Brito, the team prepares food influenced by cuisines from around the globe, hoping to give everyone a taste of home.   The Migrant Kitchen was a catering business with a mission of making food from diverse cultures, and employing and training immigrant workers in their kitchens. When COVID-19 struck, it essentially ended their catering business but created a great need for food in the city. They pivoted to making meals for delivery to needy New Yorkers, eventually on contract with the government, and now make almost 10,000 meals a day. They still employ many immigrant laborers who cook the food, some of whom have experienced food insecurity themselves.
