More than 13 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the U.S. this year, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, and the country's death toll has surpassed 266,000. (Four million cases have been recorded in November alone, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reports, more than twice the record set in October.) "When you have the kind of inflection that we have, it doesn’t all of a sudden turn around like that," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during remarks on ABC's "This Week" on Nov. 29. "So clearly in the next few weeks, we're going to have the same sort of thing. And, perhaps, even two or three weeks down the line … we may see a surge upon a surge."
