Blue and Yellow macaws decorating the sky in complimentary color in Brazil’s #Cerrado. I had spotted this composition a couple days before actually shooting it. This often happens, but compositional ideas don’t always pan out. Predicting the movements and behaviors of wildlife can be a game of hieroglyphs, full of studying behavior, “best-guess” decisions and a little bit of luck. In some cases the predictable signs can be a little clearer, like with nesting birds. Prior to returning to a nest, it’s common for birds to land on a nearby perch with a good view where they can look for predators. This hauntingly beautiful dead palm tree here was a prime perch for these #BlueAndYellowMacaws, once I identified it it was just a patience game. The stormy skies on this day was a gift, filling out the scene and cutting down the contrast.
