「自ら」の「灯（ともしび）」に「明るい」と書いて「自灯明（じとうみょう）」と読みます。

お釈迦さまが入滅する直前に、何を拠りどころに生きていけばよいかと尋ねる弟子に示した言葉だそうです。
これは「自らを灯明として、自らを拠りどころとせよ」という教え。
他人任せでもなく人のせいにもせず、苦しくとも自分に向き合って、自らの力で見つけて掲げた大切な光。
その灯明が、行くべき道を照らしてくれます✨
