The crossing of the Alps with the Bernina Express is certainly one of the most spectacular as it runs through a film setting: it crosses the 65m high Landwasser viaduct, the emblem of the RhB Rhaetian Railway and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The route from Coira to Tirano passes through a total of 55 tunnels and 196 bridges, and takes travellers through spectacular tourist attractions such as the Montebello bend overlooking the Bernina massif; or in front of the Morteratsch glacier, the three lakes Lej Pitschen, Lej Nair and Lake Bianco, the village of Alp Grüm and the circular viaduct of Brusio.
