For my art prints I’m always using the Giclee printing method, it’s a pigment based printing, it lasts longer, it’s fade resistant and yes it’s more expensive. Here’s the main difference - there are basically two types of inks: dye based and pigment based. Dye based prints are more liquid in their consistency, they are prone to fading as those inks are made cheaper. Magazines, books and other mass production publications use them often, that’s how it’s possible to achieve cheaper prices. Pigment based prints are more durable and resistant to fading as it’s basically solid particles sprayed onto paper. If you look at the prints through a magnifying glass you can easily see this difference - Giclee prints would be all solid color (just like a silkscreen, or a painting), while digital prints will show the cmyk pixels.」11月22日 0時55分
