Since the debut of the brand, turning unwanted items into valuable products has been the sustainable concept of READYMADE. This project utilizes recycled plastic bottle caps in consideration of the ongoing environmental problems with the plastic waste within the ocean. The bottle caps are the main color of the “EASY CHAIR”, so it has a unique and different pattern when produced. The surface of the seat is carefully knitted aligning with the framework of the chair. The back of the seat includes the signature of the craftsman, the date of the manufacture engraved with a plate, as the brand logo. Under the direction of Yuta Hosokawa, this event is introduced as part of the 20th anniversary project of RESTIR, displayed along with a huge whale to spread awareness of the ongoing marine waste problem, which is the theme of the project, using garbage collected in Tokyo Bay.
