Construction on this larger-capacity, replacement bridge began in 2013 to handle increased traffic to and from the major metropolitan area. Once the large replacement project was finished in 2017, the old, inactive bridge was demolished. The new bridge has a shared-use path for bicycles and pedestrians and was built with the capacity for a future commuter rail line to be built at a later date.
