In my lifetime I have never seen politics become so popular amongst so many who know so little, who get their “facts” from memes, their proof from nowhere, who lecture you on policies and programs they’ve never read who have created feelings in them they’ve only recently adopted from their favorite celebrity/athlete/influencer who knows just as little about politics as they do. It is insane. And a democracy in an insane asylum is not really a democracy. It’s a joke, proven each day the groupthink mobs push upon us their next witch hunt, their next suppression of opportunities to individuals who strive for a higher level of personal sanity and ability and their next parlor trick of legal and time wasting processes that somehow never accomplish anything but to distract the population from the real ills of society and result in nothing but chaos. I’m an expert in skateboarding, nothing else. But I do know that a political system that works starts with you, not the masses. You are the basic building block of the future. It is you, the individual, who needs to rise above this groupthink political nonsense in order to affect real change and I t is more important than ever for you to be well-informed, not misinformed, to be sane, not insane, to strive to understand where the world is heading and why we are at such a cultural divide and crossroads. It is you who will fix it, not with violence and Instagram memes but with ideas. Human nature being what it is, I understand, this is no small task, but if you are interested in the future you must take interest. Today some of you will believe you voted for the right person, others will believe they did. However, no matter what happens tonight, whatever the results, the only real solution is for you to act decently towards your fellows rather than worse. It is up to you to create new realities no matter what government we have because left or right, liberal or conservative, republican or democrat, each and every one of you are looking for solutions and none of them start or end with government, and they never have, they start with you.
